Art Wine and Wheels Contest

MARIPOSA – Each year the Rotary Club of Mariposa Yosemite invites artists to submit their artwork for consideration to represent the group’s Annual Art, Wine & Wheels event. The themes are to include art, wine, classic cars, Mariposa history, local scenery, flora, fauna, or the Mariposa community. The selected art is used in various promotional materials including postcards, posters, and brochures, as well as in social media. The winning artist receives a complimentary booth space at the event and will be credited in all promotional materials.
The 2022 winning art is “Wine Time” by Gina Mims.

Gina Mims is a California native who relocated from Orange County to Ahwahnee in 2013. Her family has been coming to Bass Lake for their family reunion for over 75 years and on a trip decided it was time for a change. As an art major, she painted often, but as an owner of a graphic design agency, found hectic schedules got in the way. Upon moving to the area, Gina began painting again after an almost 20-year hiatus. She is the owner of Inspiro Brands and works with clients remotely but makes it a priority to paint whenever possible.

Gina works with acrylic on canvas, using a combination of both brush and palette knife. She paints as an “escape” and wants that feeling to transcend into her art. Her main desire is to give people who view her work a sense of peace and tranquility.

Since 2019 Gina has been the president of Yosemite Sierra Artists and welcomes all interested to “Come Make Art with Us!” For more information visit YosemiteSierraArtists.org.
Gina has a gallery at Oakhurst Spirits Distillery which is open Friday & Saturday 2:00pm to 7:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. She’ll also be showing her art there during Sierra Art Trails the first two weekends of October.
