OAKHURST, CA — Following an extensive search, the Yosemite Unified School District has the pleasure to announce Jessica Fairbanks as the next principal of Yosemite High School. Her appointment is pending board approval at the upcoming YUSD Board of Trustees meeting on May 13.
Fairbanks, an alumna of Yosemite High School, brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role. In 2024-25, Fairbanks will take over as Yosemite High School’s principal. She brings 18 years of educational experience, including teaching special education and serving in administrative roles. All within the Chawanakee Unified School District,
“I am honored and excited to return to Yosemite High School as the next principal,” said Fairbanks. “I look forward to collaborating with the students, staff, and families to ensure our school’s success. My goal is to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and personally.”
Fairbanks holds a master’s degree in learning and technology from Western Governors University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from California State University. Additionally, she has earned multiple subject and special education credentials. Throughout her career, Fairbanks has received several honors, including two Administrator of the Year awards in 2015 and 2023.

Pending board approval, Fairbanks will assume her new role after the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year. The YUSD community looks forward to welcoming Fairbanks and supporting her vision for excellence at Yosemite High School.
