MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY–With the lightning that rolled through the area this morning, Sierra National Forest and CalFire fire crews are responding to and chasing lightning fires and smoke reports by ground and air today. We are monitoring these incidents but will not be posting articles for each individual fire unless an incident is growing and/or threatening life or property.
Be prepared to see firefighting activity in our areas. Also, if you see a smoke column or flames, please report to the proper authorities.
Earlier today a lightning fire was reported in the Fish Camp area near Forest Road 6S07. This was the Dillon Fire. After firefighting efforts including a helicopter dipping in Bass Lake and dropping water on the fire, the fire is now contained.
