OAKHURST — Prepare yourself for wearin’ of the green and a delightful day out, as women of Soroptimist International of The Sierras invite the community to their semi-annual Soroptimist Soup & Salad Luncheon. This year the event is held on lucky St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, Mar. 17. The feast and festivities will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oakhurst Community Center.

Everyone is welcome to indulge in a salad bar set up with fresh toppings plus various homemade salads and two delicious soups, along with rolls, iced tea or coffee, and dessert.

Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased from any Soroptimist member. Take-out is also being offered and can be picked up at the Community Center.

One of the highlights of the day is well-organized and abundant the Silent Auction, featuring dozens of items tgenerously donated by individuals and businesses in our community. The auction will begin promptly at 1 p.m. and you do not need to be present to win.

Held twice a year in spring and fall, the luncheons are a major fundraiser for the organization. Proceeds benefit Soroptimist community projects throughout the year, including the recent “Dream It – Be It Career Support for Girls.”

The Soroptimist Mission Statement is “a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.”
