HOW Oakhurst Honors Patti Collins

OAKHURST – The local chapter of nonprofit organization Helping One Woman (HOW) will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at El Cid Mexican Restaurant, in support of Patti Collins of North Fork.

“Patti has lived in the mountain area for 33 years,” say organizers. “She and her husband Bill have been married 37 years and were blessed with four children and now seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. God had a different plan for her son Gunner, who went home to be with the Lord in 2004 at the age of 17. Although Patti is a woman of strong faith, the years following Gunner’s death would have many hardships.”

HOW reports that Patti has battled illness for many years, beginning with a seven-year bout of Lyme disease, and four rounds of cancer.

Patti has been the principle secretary and registrar at Minarets High School since its opening in 2009. Patt’s greatest joy, say organizers, is watching her husband and children grow in and serve the Lord. She enjoys gardening and through blogging, shares the joys and pitfalls of her life. Patti worked hard to establish women’s ministry at Calvary Chapel of the Sierra and spearheads their annual local women’s conference.

Those participating in the HOW benefit dinner will place $10 or more toward a contribution for Patti, and pay for their own dinners. Proceeds from the evening go directly to the recipient at the end of the evening.

El Cid Mexican Restaurant is located at 41939 CA-41 in Oakhurst. Reservations are requested for this event on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. by calling Nancy at Tokens in Oakhurst at (559) 658-5428 with the number of people in your party.

Call Terry at (559) 475-3906 about donations for the prize drawing. Monetary donations or gifts for the prize drawing may be left with Nancy at Tokens in Oakhurst.

HOW says that “one woman giving $10 can buy another woman’s lunch. Ten women giving $10 can buy another woman’s groceries. One hundred women giving $10 can change another woman’s life. This is how HOW works.”
