FLAG DAY CELEBRATION- June 14
Flag Day is June 14. Oakhurst Lutheran has been holding a Flag Day Celebration since 2009. The initial Celebrations were held in the Community Park. With the erection and dedication of the Veterans’ monument in 2013 the event has been held at OLC’s memorial garden, where it will be held this year.
The Celebration begins with dinner at 6:00PM of a tri-tip sandwich, chips, soda and ice cream for dessert. The suggested donation for the dinner is $12.50 as it is a fund raiser for Semper Fi. The Celebration continues at the Flag pole and Veteran’s Memorial at 7:00PM. Last year’s guest speaker was Kaci Lutz information officer for the highway Patrol and former Army Black Hawk helicopter pilot. This year our guest speaker will be Kaci’s husband, Chris, returning recently from an overseas deployment.
Retirement of old flags will also be part of the celebration, so if you have an old flag bring it to the church office. And the Lions Club will provide a free flag for the children.
