“This is a fantastic event! There are no admission costs, and we are happy to provide free make-and-take activities for the community,” said Dr. Cecilia Massetti, Madera County Superintendent of Schools. “It’s a fun day to come out with the family, to celebrate the arts, and to engage in friendly, inexpensive art experiences that families can replicate at home at any time of the year.”

The event will feature live art demonstrations and an outdoor performance stage. Liberty Charter School’s mariachi band will perform at 10:30 a.m. and Matilda Torres High School’s mariachi band will perform at 1:00 p.m.

Free snow cones and popcorn will be provided.

The event is being held in conjunction with a student art gallery. This year 331 students from 31 schools in Madera County competed in an art contest this spring. Students in transitional kindergarten through high school will be displaying artwork in a student art gallery at the event.

Students competed in separate divisions: TK-3rd grade, 4th-6th grade, 7th-8th grade, and 9th-12th grade. Judging took place in separate categories: 2-dimensional art, 3-dimensional art and still photography.

Organizers will be awarding students ribbons for first, second, third place and honorable mention. All students will receive a certificate of participation. An awards recognition to honor all participants will take place in the art gallery. Participants may come at any time between 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to receive their certificate and any earned awards.

Educational Employees Credit Union and Pacific Gas and Electric Company are sponsors of ArtsFest.

The public is invited to attend the event. Door prizes consisting of gift certificates, family outings, and art kits will be awarded. Madera County Superintendent of Schools is located at 1105 S. Madera Avenue. For more information please call Kristi Winter at 559-662-3873.
