‘Visions Of The Stone Monkeys’ Yosemite Climbing Culture Talk

MARIPOSA — The speaker series surrounding A History of Rock Climbing in Yosemite Valley continues at the Mariposa Museum with climber and photographer Dean Fidelman on Friday, June 21 at 6 pm.

Featuring artifacts from iconic first climbing ascents in Yosemite Valley, the Mariposa Museum and History Center and Yosemite Climbing Association installed A History of Rock Climbing in Yosemite Valley in early April.

Now, Fidelman will present The Stone Monkeys — talking about a generation of climbers that — like their predecessors the Stone Masters — pushed the upper limits of climbing and, at times, the envelope of mainstream society.

Fidelman’s photography during these eras captured Yosemite climbing culture and helped to bring many climbers to the main stage.

Admission is free for this event thanks to sponsors Charles Street Dinner House and Silver Fox Vineyards. An appetizer buffet courtesy of Charles Street Dinner House will be served. Buffet: $5 per person. Beer and Wine: $5 each for individuals 21 and over with photo I.D.

Please call (209) 966-2924 or visit the Mariposa Museum on Facebook for event information and updates.

Yosemite Climbing Association is a non-profit dedicated to preserving Yosemite climbing history and the pursuit of a permanent museum in Yosemite Valley.
