National Weather Service in Hanford CA has Extended the Flash Flood Warning

Press Release – National Weather Service in Hanford CA.

North Fork – Flash Flood Warning for East central Madera County in central California. North central Fresno County in central California until 4:00 PM, Monday.

At 7:41 AM – Doppler radar indicated heavy rain falling across the Creek Burn Scar area. Up to three inches to three and a half inches of rain have already fallen over the Creek Burn Scar.

At 6:58 AM, CHP reported that large boulders have slid into the roadway of Mountain Spruce Road at Big Creek Road. HAZARD… Life threatening flash flooding.

Heavy rain producing flash flooding and debris flow flooding across the Creek Burn Scar.  IMPACT…Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flooding include… Lake Thomas Edison, Peckinpah, Shaver Lake, Clover Meadow Wilderness Office, Mountain Rest, High Sierra, Green Mtn, Minarets, Shaver Lake 3ne, Nature Point, Huntington Lake, Mount Tom, Graveyard Meadow, Kaiser Point, Tamarack Summit and North Fork. Flash flooding and debris flows are likely over much of the Creek Fire Burn Area

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall. Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.
