Madera County Covid Update

MADERA – Madera County now has a total of 2,759 reported cases of Covid 19 according to the Madera County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) dashboard. There are 746 active cases with 29 Madera County residents hospitalized in Madera County. MCDPH is reporting 44 deaths as of Aug. 12, 2020.

Reporting area D which includes the following zip codes, 93601, 93604, 93614, 93626, 93636, 93643, 93644, 93645, and 93669 with a total population of of 40,031 has 173 reported cases.

Last week State officials confirmed that issues with its electronic laboratory reporting system CalREDIE resulted in an under-reporting of positive cases statewide. Madera County Department of Public Health (MCDPH)worked quickly with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to identify potential data gaps and resolve issues. MCDPH has now successfully processed the backlogged cases which are reflected in today’s case count.

MCDPH continues to be committed to providing accurate information. The state is taking action to keep this from happening again including working with vendors to fine tune CalREDIE systems and and running simultaneous systems to provide a cross check on data validation and processing into the system.
