OAKHURST — In a show of love and support for the family of Ruby Alvarez, a kid-friendly fundraiser is planned at Oakhurst Community Park on Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Everyone is invited to bring a blanket and enjoy an afternoon on the grass and playing on the swings, with live music and entertainment, food booths, a silent auction and raffles.
The event will feature a bounce house for the kids, and items have been pouring in to be auctioned for the cause.
Ruby Alvarez was fatally injured in an auto accident on June 18, and her daughter Lucy remains in critical care at Valley Children’s Hospital.
To raise money for medical and other expenses the family has and will continue to incur, more than 40 businesses and individuals are currently donating goods and services, including the bounce house courtesy of local party business Dulceria Natalie. The Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce has arranged for the use of the Community Park, and the Community Center is donating tables for use that day.
