We are deeply saddened to report that Peter Drost of Oakhurst, California, passed away on September 30, 2019.
Peter was born in Musselkanaal, Holland, on September 11, 1947, to John and Betty Drost (Zandbergen.)
He came to California with his family in 1955 and grew up in Burbank. As a Marine in the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Hawai’i and fell in love with the islands, where he returned after serving. He met his wife Sara in 1977 on the island of O’ahu where they lived until returning to California in 2010.
Peter had two great passions: outdoor adventure and family. He could be found camping, biking, swimming, hiking, or enjoying the backyard in his free time. He loved the Sierra and Ko’olau Mountains with a great passion which he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by wife of 41 years Sara Drost; children Adi Drost, Shawn Drost, and Laura Radke; grandchildren Simon Drost, Graham Drost, Colin Radke, and Pax Drost; sister Eliede Pounds and brother Henry Drost.
A memorial service for family members was held on October 1, 2019. A V.A. service will be held November 29, 2019, in Coarsegold. Please call 559-683-3365 for service information.
