Bike Giveaway Draws Hundreds to Coarsegold Community Center

COARSEGOLD — G’Ma and Pappa’s Motorcycle Apparel shop hosted its 4th annual “Christmas in the Mountains Bicycle Giveaway” on Saturday morning outside the Coarsegold Community Center.

Event organizer Mitch Riegelhuth with several happy new bike owners this morning at the Oakhurst Community Center

At the popular event, nearly 300 area underprivileged children — from toddlers to teenagers — got an early Christmas present — a brand new bike.

The children and their parents also enjoyed a free pancake breakfast hosted by Bikers for Christ.

“We gave away 277 bikes this morning,” said event organizer, Mitch Riegelhuth, G’Ma and Pappa’s owner.

Riegelhuth said it took $18,000 to purchase the bikes and put on the event, which featured everything from tricycles to 21-inch bikes.

More than a hundred local businesses and private donors helped sponsor the giveaway.
