33rd Annual Mountain Bowl Yosemite vs. Sierra

OAKHURST — With Friday night lights fever clearly on an upswing, fans and alums may want to note that Friday, Nov. 4 is a really big one, as the 33rd Mountain Bowl continues the rivalry between Yosemite High School and Sierra High School. The evening starts with a sanctioned tailgate party and ends with Senior Night, and in between there’s a good chance for good games.

Those who bleed Badger blue will gather before kickoff in the Mountain Muscle Gym parking lot, starting at around 4 p.m., thanks to an open invite from owners George and Meloni Mullins. As part of their plan to energize the Booster organization, George is going to fire up the barbecue and provide hot dogs, ribs, and salad. Revelers are asked to bring sides, drinks, dessert, or whatever else you may want to cook on the BBQ. Mountain Muscle is located at 40118 Highway 49 behind Sullivan’s Tires in Oakhurst.

The JV game starts at 5 p.m. and Varsity is at 7 p.m., at Home vs. Sierra. Not only is it Mountain Bowl, it’s Senior Night for football players and cheerleaders, so if you have one or you are one, bring a hankie or a tissue. It’s been a good year already!

Can’t make it to the game but want to see it anyway? Great news for you: YHS Athletic Director Rusty Oetinger’s sports marketing class has started streaming live video of Varsity home games this year, and will be broadcasting the Mountain Bowl live on the NFHS network. Those with an avid interest may wish to check out this link before the game in order to make sure all the technical ducks are lining up in a row.
