Fire Destroys Motorhome In Oakhurst

OAKHURST — A motorhome was completely destroyed in a fire just off Road 425B in Oakhurst this morning.

Just before 6:30 a.m., firefighters were called out to to reports of a motorhome on fire in a driveway at the end of Chapel Hill Drive.

The first unit on scene reported the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, and incoming crews were warned of propane tanks exploding. Chunks of charred material were spread across the parking lot of the Senior Center, located just downhill from the fire.

An alert was sent out by the Sheriff’s Office to residents within one-quarter mile of the incident.

Firefighters quickly contained the blaze and stopped it from spreading to the surrounding vegetation or nearby homes.

Crew had some heavy mop-up to do, but by 7:30 a.m., the fire was controlled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
