UPDATES 3.11.2023

A few strong thunderstorms are possible, mainly north of Kern County from 12 PM PST this afternoon until 6 PM PST this evening. Small hail and wind gusts near 45 miles per hour are a couple of hazards associated with strong thunderstorms. In addition to dangerous cloud to ground lightning strikes, any thunderstorm can produce intense rainfall rates, leading to localized flooding.

There is an elevated risk of excessive rainfall in most of Central California below 7,000 feet today and tonight. Heavy rainfall below 7,000 feet and melting snow from 2,000 feet to 4,000 feet could cause flooding or worsen ongoing flooding. The heaviest rainfall is expected this afternoon and this evening. A Flood Watch is in effect.

Periods of precipitation will linger in Central California today into Sunday morning. Snow levels will generally be around 7,000 feet. The majority of this precipitation will fall this afternoon and this evening.
