MADERA COUNTY–The Yosemite Unified School District joins over 1,000 local educational agencies across California in observing School Board Recognition Month.
In the evolving landscape of education, school board members play a crucial role in prioritizing enhanced learning and student wellbeing. These individuals work to shape the foundational policies and priorities that significantly impact student outcomes.

The board sets the foundation and vision for the district, directs resources where they are most needed, and ensures accountability to the community by monitoring progress toward goals. This school year, the YUSD Board of Trustees has pursued several initiatives to strengthen the district. Efforts include a focus on Briimproving academic achievement, combating student absenteeism, improving campus culture, fostering student enrichment opportunities, strengthening school/community partnerships, and improving energy efficiency at our schools.
Current YUSD board members are Marc Gilchrist (Trustee Area 1), Christine Wilder (Trustee Area 2), Bernie McGoldrick (Trustee Area 3), Steven Myers (Trustee Area 4), and Brook Allen (Trustee Area 5).
