Yosemite’s Wawona Hotel to Close Indefinitely

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK—Yosemite National Park officials have announced that the historic Wawona Hotel will close indefinitely. The National Park Service (NPS) recently discovered concerns requiring attention, which prompted the decision to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the hotel complex. In recent months, NPS has been conducting a roof replacement project on the main hotel building.

Since the 1850s, Wawona Hotel has been providing travelers with a place to escape and rejuvenate. The complex includes a swimming pool, horse stables, a golf course, and tennis courts. Many famous guests have stayed there, including former presidents.

The closure is to begin on December 2, 2024. The hotel will not accept reservations after December 1st. NPS has given no indication as to how long the hotel will be closed or what concerns were discovered. More information about Wawona Hotel is available here.
