Recent YGPBC Highlights:
- Women’s Chainsaw Class: YGPBC extends a heartfelt thank you to the participants and instructors for making this weekend’s class a success! Due to overwhelming interest and a waitlist of over 80 individuals, they are exploring additional offerings to meet community demand.
- Catheys Valley Burn: On October 29, YGPBC volunteers assisted a landowner in conducting a 5.5-acre burn in Catheys Valley. It was an excellent learning experience, and the organization appreciates the dedication of their volunteers.
- North Fork Burn: On October 21, volunteers helped a landowner with a 2.5-acre burn off Mammoth Pool Road. This was their first burn of the season, and they had a great turnout. They wish to thank everyone who participated.
Broadcast Burn Season Update:
Early fall rains and warm temperatures have led to early grass greening, potentially shortening the broadcast burn window for grass and blue oak woodland fuel types. YGPBC encourages those interested in participating to attend a burn in the coming weeks, as it’s uncertain if they will continue broadcast burning after Thanksgiving. Additionally, for those considering hosting a burn, attending a broadcast burn is essential to understand the process. To accommodate various schedules, the next two burns are planned for weekends.
