“Winter in Our Mountain Home” Begins a New Tradition at YHS

MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES — The Yosemite High School Music Department will be debuting a brand new piece of music called “Winter in Our Mountain Home” at their Winter Concert being held Wednesday, December 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the YHS Gym.

The YHS Music Boosters commissioned a piece by Christopher Byrum Harris. He is the main consultant in the music department and also has a composition degree. The piece was written specifically for the YHS students, with our community in mind.

The YHS Concert Choir even helped write the lyrics. It will be performed by every single music student, including the YHS Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, and the Bass Lake Beginning and Advanced Bands.

The debut of this piece will be the grand finale of their winter concert, and the idea is that they will start a tradition of performing this piece at the end of every winter concert.
