WAWONA – The Wawona School is asking for your help to keep the doors open and the children in their classrooms.

The ninth annual Celebrity Scramble Golf Tournament will help the school do just that on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Wawona Hotel Golf Course.

Former Congressman George Radanovich, State Senator Tom Berryhill, Warren Armstrong from ABC30 News and Faith Sidlow from KSEE 24 will be among the event’s celebrity guests. The festivities kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast reception and putting competition, followed by a shotgun tee-off at 10 a.m. Various contests with prizes will be held throughout the tournament. And a hole-in-one challenge gives all players the opportunity to win a new car.

After a day on the course, golfers will be treated to a wine reception and barbecue dinner at 4 p.m. on the hotel lawn. Non-golfers are invited to attend the barbecue, at $20 for adults and $10 for children.

The event culminates with a raffle and silent and live auctions featuring overnight lodging packages, a Black and Decker Lithium Chainsaw, Microsoft X-Box, Jawbone JAMBOX, Samsung HDTV Monitor, and more.

The cost is $150 per golfer, which includes greens fee, golf cart, breakfast, lunch and barbecue dinner.

Call Wawona School at 559-375-6383 for registration information and dinner tickets. All event proceeds will go to help fund the operation of the Wawona School for the 2012-2013 school year.
