Walt Page to Compete in New STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Season

MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES — The original extreme sport is back in action this weekend! The first events of the 2023 U.S. STIHL TIMBERSPORTS season kickoff on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13, with the Rookie Championship and U.S. Trophy events. Tollhouse local, Walt Page, will be competing in the U.S. Trophy event.

Reigning Rookie Champion Andrew O’Connell of West Falls, NY, looks to defend his title after bursting onto the scene and taking the 2022 Rookie Championship in Little Rock, AR. Reigning U.S. Trophy Champion Jason Lentz of Diana, WV, looks to defend his title in this relay-style event, fending off top names such as Matt Cogar and Nate Hodges.

Complete Event Details

WHAT: The first events of the 2023 U.S. STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® season kickoff on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13, with the Rookie Championship and the U.S. Trophy getting the axe-tion started.

WHO: The top 12 ranked male STIHL TIMBERSPORTS athletes, and the top 8 ranked STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Rookies in the U.S.

WHEN: The Rookie Championship will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 5 p.m. EDT. The U.S. Trophy will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 1 p.m. EDT.

WHERE: Mount Trashmore Park, 310 Edwin Drive, Virginia Beach, VA.

A lot is on the line this weekend. A newer competition format to STIHL TIMBERSPORTS, the U.S. Trophy is a relay-style competition featuring the top 12 ranked U.S. male athletes fighting for a chance to advance to the World Trophy event, held on June 10 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. As well, the winner of the Rookie Championship, featuring the top eight rookies in the U.S., will match up with the world’s top Rookies in the Rookie World Championship on June 9.

Both events will be livestreamed on the official STIHL TIMBERSPORTS YouTube and Facebook pages.
