Vegetation Fire On Willow Creek In North Fork

NORTH FORK — Firefighters had to hike down into steep terrain to handle a vegetation fire along Willow Creek north of North Fork this morning.

Just before 9 a.m., PG&E workers reported smoke below the flume that runs along the access road just east of Road 222 between North Fork and Manzanita Lake.

The first unit at scene reported the fire as a 20 x 30 spot, about 500 feet down from the access road, creeping and smoldering in the vegetation.

Cal Fire Engines 4275, 4260 and 4295 responded, and firefighters dropped hose into the creek and quickly had the fire contained.

By 10:35 a.m., the fire was controlled and crews were released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
