Update On The Oakwood Fire 7 PM Monday

MADERA COUNTY — The Oakwood Fire, which started on Saturday, June 10, at about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Roads 209 and 406, is holding at 1,450 acres, and is now 85 percent contained.

The containment estimate does not mean there is only line around 85 percent of the fire, but rather that officials are 100 percent confident in 85 percent of the line.

Cool temps and high humidity has helped in suppression efforts, and firefighters continue to mop-up inside the perimeter and strengthen firelines.

Resources continue to be released from the fire, and there are currently 50 personnel assigned to the incident, including 5 engines and 2 ground crews.

Aircraft overflew the burn area today, reporting conditions to the incident commander.

There are no road closures or evacuations related to the Oakwood Fire. No structures were lost, and no injuries have been reported.

Cooperating agencies include PG&E, the U.S. Forest Serivce, CHP, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Fresno County Fire and Madera County Fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
