NORTH FORK — Rebelz Coffee is a gathering place that brings locals, adventurers, and travelers together in the heart of the Sierra Nevada foothills, less than an hour from Yosemite National Park. Owned by 20-year-old Rylee Rebel Zukovsky, a North Fork native, the shop reflects her passion for exceptional drinks, meaningful connections, and creating a welcoming space.
The Journey to Rebelz Coffee
Initially, Rylee launched her coffee journey at Zanders Coffee, owned by Gina Alexander in the Coarsegold Historic Village. With guidance from Gina, she was able to discover her passion for coffee and learn the importance of building meaningful relationships with customers.
Moreover, in April of 2023, Rylee opened her shop under South Fork Coffee Mill. However, after seeing the community’s response and envisioning a brand that better reflected her values, she rebranded the shop to Rebelz Coffee in August of this year.
Notably, the name “Rebelz” carries personal significance. Not only does it reference her middle name, Rebel, but the cedar tree in the logo symbolizes growth, strength, and staying grounded–values that define the shop’s mission.
Crafting Quality & Building Community
At Rebelz Coffee, everything begins with quality. The menu showcases handcrafted specialty coffee made with beans from Mariposa Coffee, alongside teas, Red Bull drinks, and breakfast favorites. The breakfast burrito, recently added to the shop’s menu has quickly become a local favorite. Private chef Eric Ruffin makes the burritos.
Adding a personal touch, the menu pays homage to North Fork’s beauty and culture, with item names inspired by local landmarks, wildlife, and outdoor activities. Whether it’s a coffee named after a nearby trail or a tea blend that reflects the region’s flora, each name reminds customers of the area’s charm.
“We want our menu to celebrate the community and the incredible surroundings that make North Fork so special,” Rylee explains.
But Rebelz Coffee is about more than just great food and drinks–it’s about the connections made over them. Rylee and her team prioritize customer relationships, learning names, remembering favorite orders, and creating an inviting atmosphere.
“We like our customers to feel valued,” Rylee says. “It’s those personal connections that make our space special.”
The shop also actively engages with the North Fork community by hosting events, collaborating with local artists, and supporting fundraisers. Additionally, Rebelz Coffee has expanded its reach through valuable partnerships. Collaborations with Refreshment Concepts and marketing expert Jenna Liston, CEO of VOX SOCIAL, have boosted the shop’s presence both online and in person.
Overcoming Challenges & Facing Triumphs
Of course, small-business ownership comes with its challenges, but Rylee’s determination has turned obstacles into opportunities. When she rebranded Rebelz Coffee, she worried about how the community would respond. Instead, the support she received reaffirmed her vision and commitment to her customers.
“The rebranding process was a leap of faith,” Rylee shares. “But the community rallied behind us, and it showed me we’re doing something right.”
In addition, Rebelz Coffee continues to adapt and grow through new initiatives. The shop has expanded its menu, introduced online merchandise, and built partnerships with local creators.
Looking to the Future
As Rebelz Coffee evolves, Rylee remains focused on creating a space that serves the community’s needs. Plans to extend hours, host more events, and collaborate with local businesses and artists are already in motion.
“Staying true to my vision and leading with kindness has shaped Rebelz Coffee into what it is today,” Rylee reflects.
The Heart Behind Rebelz Coffee
For Rylee, Rebelz Coffee is more than a business–it’s a reflection of her journey, values, and deep love for North Fork. Inspired by those around her, Rylee has poured her heart into creating a space where people feel seen, valued, and connected.
“Every interaction has helped shape Rebelz Coffee into what it is today, and I can’t wait to meet even more friendly faces,” exclaims Rylee.
Whether you’re a local, an outdoor adventurer, or just passing through, Rebelz Coffee offers more than exceptional drinks and food–it provides an experience rooted in community, craft, and connection.
