OES Hosts Spirit Night This Friday

OAKHURST – Oakhurst Elementary School’s Parent/Teacher Club is hosting its annual Patriotic Spirit Night on Friday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

All OES families, community members and neighbors are welcome for an evening of great food, games and entertainment. The evening also includes a silent auction, with fabulous items donated by many local businesses. The auction closes at 7 p.m. sharp, and all proceeds benefit the school’s instructional program and various student activities.Members of local CAL Fire and Sierra Ambulance crews will be there, as will Smokey Bear.

The Yosemite High School Marching Band kicks off the festivities with patriotic music, while the Oakhurst Sierra Kiwanis Club grills hotdogs and hamburgers for everyone.

Oak Creek Intermediate School students will be selling slices of Round Table Pizza and hot nachos. Soda, water, cotton candy, snow cones, cookies, ice cream sandwiches, a baked potato bar and coffee will also be available.

The entertainment includes DJ service by Eric Hagen, contests, tennis demonstrations by the YHS tennis team, and gymnasts from Gymnastics by Diane.

Children can participate in games and activities such as bean bag toss, colored hair spraying, grab bag games, squirt boat races, baseball pitching, sand art, face painting and goldfish ping pong. Bounce houses and a climbing wall are also being planned.

Tickets will be available on site for 50 cents each. The PTC is offering a wristband for $15 per child, which gives them entry to all activities for the entire evening.
