OAKHURST — The holiday spirit is coming alive in Oakhurst with the much-anticipated Christmas Tree Lighting at Ditton’s Talking Bear. This cherished event promises an evening of community, celebration, and holiday cheer.

Initially, the event kicks off on Saturday, December 7th, at 4:00 p.m., featuring a bustling marketplace of local vendors, crafts, and food. From handmade gifts to festive treats, attendees can shop and savor the season’s delights while supporting local businesses.
At 4:30 p.m., holiday melodies and performances will fill the air as local musicians and entertainers take the stage. Therefore, it’s a perfect time to gather with friends and family, enjoy live entertainment, and embrace the season’s warmth.
The main highlight of the evening—the Tree Lighting Ceremony—will begin at 6:00 p.m., marking a magical moment as the community tree sparkles to life. Moments later, children and families can experience the excitement of Santa Claus arriving in style on his big red sleigh!
Importantly, whether it’s rain, snow, sleet, or shine, the Christmas Tree Lighting has become a time-honored tradition and small-town reunion. Consequently, drawing generations of Oakhurst families together to celebrate the holiday season.
Vendor & Community Participation
In addition, local vendors are encouraged to participate in this festive community event. Booth setup begins at 1:00 p.m., with the event space ready for visitors by 4:00 p.m. Moreover, vendors can showcase their products, give away company swag, offer holiday crafts, or spread holiday cheer.
To ensure a seamless experience, the organizers provide several guidelines for vendors:
- Booths must bring their trash cans, though EMADCO generously provides a dumpster and recycling bin for the night.
- Vendors should use battery-operated lights for their displays, as event lighting may not fully illuminate individual booths.
- Vehicles must leave the event area by 3:00 p.m.; cars are not permitted after 2:30 p.m. Late arrivals will need to walk their booth setups into the event space.
