Negligent Discharge of Firearm

BASS LAKEThe Madera County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is reporting that on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, shortly before 4pm, the MCSO Communications Center received an emergency call regarding a gunshot wound victim at a location in the area of Road 222 and Road 274 in Bass Lake. It was reported an adult male had been shot and was actively bleeding.

Deputies responded to the scene and immediately began rendering aid to the victim. EMS arrived shortly after and transported the man to an awaiting life flight helicopter, where he was flown to a regional medical facility for treatment.

Madera County Sheriff’s Detectives have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. Their preliminary analysis indicates the victim was struck as a result of the negligent discharge of a firearm following improper firearm safety protocol amongst a private party.
