Motorcycle Dog Leads to Drug Seizure

FRESNO COUNTY – Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 58-year-old David Mitchell of Fresno. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on numerous felony charges, including possession of a gun by a felon, possession of drugs for sale, and probation violation. His bail is $320,000.

Gun, mushrooms, and meth recovered from Mitchell

Around 10:30 pm on Wednesday, deputies made a traffic stop on a motorcycle rider whose dog was unsecured on the back of the bike. This occurred near Hughes and McKinley Avenues in Fresno. Deputies identified the rider as David Mitchell, who was on active probation. A search of Mitchell’s backpack revealed nearly eight ounces of methamphetamine and $3,000 cash. Deputies arrested Mitchell. Deputies then conducted a probation compliance search of Mitchell’s home on the 900 block of W. University Ave. in Fresno. There they discovered a loaded handgun, seven pounds of packaged meth, and one pound of packaged Psilocybin mushrooms. The dog on the motorcycle Mitchell was riding was taken into the custody of Fresno Animal Humane Services.
