Mariposa Rotary Hits The Links For Scholarships

AHWAHNEE – Sierra Meadows Country Club will be the site of an 18-Hole Four-Person Scramble on Saturday, Sept. 15, to raise money for the Mollie Suh Yaley Memorial Scholarship Fund.Check-in will be at 8 a.m. and the tournament starts at 9 a.m. The $90 player fee includes:

– Green fees and cart – Continental breakfast

– Piece of golf clothing – Snacks

– Closest-to-hole contest – Awards dinner

– Straight-drive contest – Door prizes

– Mulligans – Hole-in-one contest

Mollie Yaley was a 1994 Mariposa County High School graduate who died in 2002. Those who knew her best say she possessed determination, strength, caring, a friendly spirit and love of family, friends and life. The recipient of this scholarship should be able to exhibit all these attributes, as well.

Bill and Arlene Yaley with this years winners Timothy Andre and Brooke Earling and Rotary Scholarship Chairman Ron LudiceThe Mollie Suh Yaley/Rotary Scholarship will be awarded to two Mariposa High School seniors (one male and one female) who have shown steady growth in many areas during their four years of high school. They must be well-rounded, dedicated and determined students who have been active in school leadership and/or school service, school activities, athletics, community service and outside youth activities.

While participating in all these activities, the students must have kept up good grades to the best of their ability. So far, almost $100,000 in scholarships have been awarded in Mollie’s name.
