MARIPOSA — Mariposa County Environmental Health is preparing for this year’s mosquito fish distribution. Mosquito fish, also known as Gambusia affinis, are an excellent and natural way to control mosquito larvae without having to resort to dangerous chemicals or insecticides. A large female mosquito fish is capable of devouring hundreds of mosquito larvae in a single day.
The team will be at the Coulterville Park (10313 Park Lane in Coulterville) on Thursday, April 28, from 9 – 11 a.m. Please call ahead to reserve your fish for this event at 209-966-2220.
They will also be at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds (5007 Fairgrounds Road in Mariposa) on Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. as supplies last. This will be a first-come, first-served process and will be held during the UC Master Gardeners’ Plant Sale.
We are hoping to spread the word and would appreciate you posting the attached flyer in public spaces and/or sharing our social media post from the Mariposa County Health & Human Services Facebook page.
