Madera County Set to Break Ground on Historic State Route 41 Expansion Project
with Local and Regional Dignitaries
Madera County, CA – A historic groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Friday at 10 A.M. to celebrate the long-awaited expansion of State Route 41. The groundbreaking showcases the growth and expansion of Eastern Madera County paving a new path forward for one of the most traveled expressways in the entire region.
Regional and local dignitaries, along with developers and Caltrans will be on hand for this landmark event at Avenue 12 and SR 41, caddy corner to the iconic American barn.
Last month the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the single largest public works expansion project in county history, it will widen SR 41 between Avenue 10½ and Avenue 15 to four lanes.
The $130 million expansion project will also include a new bridge over Avenue 11 going southbound, an improved signal at Avenue 12 and modify an existing signal at Avenue 15.
The completion of the project is set for May of 2028. No existing lanes will be blocked or rerouted during construction.
Supervisor Chair Bobby Macaulay says this project benefits everyone. “Expanding Highway 41 is a critical investment in the safety, mobility, and economic future of our community. This project will help improve traffic flow for residents and visitors alike while strengthening our connection to the mountain communities, Yosemite, and the businesses that rely on this vital corridor.”
