OAKHURST— CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers are currently investigating the Lookout fire that occurred on Deadwood Mountain in Oakhurst, CA. The fire happened on Friday, July 19, 2024, at approximately 10:43 PM. The cause Of the fire is currently under investigation by CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers and Madera County Sheriffs Department.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, and Monday, August 5, 2024, two separate fires occurred in the immediate area. CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers concluded they were both rekindle fires from the original Lookout fire that occurred on Friday, July 19, 2024. The comprehensive investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released at a later date.
CAL FIRE would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities, If you see a suspicious person, vehicle, or any other activity prior to, during, or after a fire, take pictures, video recordings, and/or write down detailed information.
