Lisa Edelheit, Mariposa District 1 Supervisor Candidate
MARIPOSA, CA – Lisa Edelheit has announced her candidacy for Mariposa County District 1 Supervisor. The following is her official statement:

“My name is Lisa Edelheit and I’m running for District 1 Board of Supervisor. I have lived in Midpines for the past 38 years with my husband, Charles, where we raised our son, a graduate of MCHS.
I came to the area in 1985 for a summer job working for the Yosemite Park & Curry Co. and fell in love with Yosemite and Mariposa. I left the area to complete my college degree and returned the following summer after graduating with a BA from Michigan State University. I spent several months working and living in Yosemite Valley where I started my career as an employee advocate.
My advocacy work over the past 40 years included working with public and private sector workers and employers in a variety of industries. I have extensive experience as a negotiator in both traditional and interest-based models. I am a problem solver and enjoy working in a collaborative setting to achieve common interests and goals.
Should I succeed in being elected to the Board of Supervisors, my priorities will include improving workforce housing; developing a stronger relationship with NPS, Aramark and other park partners; updating and revising development codes and the county’s general plan; streamlining county services; recruiting and retaining qualified county employees; improving the conditions to attract businesses, promoting fire safe communities and insurance reform for affordable fire insurance.
I know many people in District1 and look forward to getting to know more of my fellow residents. Each of the communities within District 1 has unique issues and needs, and I plan on visiting each community to meet the residents and understand their challenges and opportunities. We have so much more in common than what divides us and I will work on building stronger connections and relationships amongst our communities.
I feel very fortunate to live in such a wonderful community and to have Yosemite in my back yard. I’m looking forward to utilizing my skills and experience to advocate for the residents of District 1 and Mariposa County.
In closing, I want to thank Rosemarie Smallcombe for the leadership and dedication she has provided over the past three terms representing District 1. I appreciate all she has done to represent Mariposa County at the local, state and national levels.” – Lisa Edelheit, candidate for Mariposa County District 1 Supervisor in the upcoming election.
