Join The Fun: La Sierra Guild Membership Drive

Publicity Chair Barbara Harrigan and Membership Chair Doreen Walbrecher

OAKHURST — Looking for an exceptionally important way to give back, working with a well-oiled nonprofit that helps youth throughout the mountain areas and in the valley, as well?

La Sierra Guild of Valley Children’s Hospital invites the community to come out for their March general meeting and Annual Membership Drive at Oakhurst Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Mar. 14, at 1 p.m. La Sierra Guild members will provide appetizers for everyone’s enjoyment.

“We are one of 15 Valley Children’s Guilds in the Central Valley and are working toward fulfilling a $4 million Guild endowment to Valley Children’s Hospital,” say organizers including Publicity Chair Barbara Harrigan and Membership Chair Doreen Walbrecher. “If you are looking for a great group to join, please come to this meeting.”

La Sierra Guild members come from all mountain communities. The group hosts four fundraising events per year: a Valentine Tea in February, a Cinco de Mayo Luncheon and Basket Raffle in May, a Fall Fundraising Ticket Raffle with fabulous prizes valued at $100+ each, and Dinner on the Deck at Ducey’s on Bass Lake  in September.

Dues are $20 per year, and all proceeds from fundraisers benefit Valley Children’s Hospital. La Sierra Guild meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (no meeting in July) at Oakhurst Lutheran Church located at 39255 Black Road at 1 p.m.

“Occasionally we meet for lunch at mountain community restaurants to show our appreciation for their support,” note members. “Fundraising isn’t a requirement for membership. We welcome anyone who would like to help us support Valley Children’s in other ways too, like donating handcrafted items or raffle items or helping at our events. Come see what a fun group we are!”

Both men and women are encouraged to join La Sierra Guild. For more information, contact Carol George at 559-641-7823 or edncarol@sti.net
