Joe Brown Convicted of Terrorist Threats

MADERA – A Madera County Superior Court jury found Joe Brown, 53 of Chowchilla, guilty on Aug. 10 of one felony count of making terrorist threats and of one misdemeanor count of brandishing a weapon, according to Madera County District Attorney Michael R. Keitz.Deputy District Attorney Traci Wise presented evidence to the jury that, on Aug. 18 of last year, Brown made threats of physical injury to two men in the parking lot near his residence.

Officers from the Chowchilla Police Department responded to a call for immediate assistance from the victims, and later confiscated handguns and a bat from Brown’s residence.

Brown was arrested and booked into the Madera County jail. He faces up to three years in state prison for the crimes. He is set to be sentenced on Sept. 7, in Madera Superior Court.
