Hunters Fire Full Containment Expected Today

MARIPOSA COUNTY – Activity on the Hunters Fire is winding down, and Cal Fire expects to have full containment by 6 p.m. today. The fire, which started on Monday, May 26, burned 667 acres in and around the Hunters Valley Recreation Area just south of Lake McClure in Mariposa County.

As of 8 a.m. on Monday, June 2, the fire is 95% contained. There are eighty personnel currently patrolling and performing fire suppression repair, including two engines, two fire crews and two bulldozers.

Nine injuries were reported during the suppression activities, and three structures were lost.

All road closures have been lifted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
