Hunters Fire Evacuees Can Return Home

MARIPOSA COUNTY – At 6 p.m. today the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office will open the current area evacuated due to the Hunters Fire to RESIDENTS ONLY. This includes Hunters Valley Access Road, Hunters Valley Road, Detwiler Road and Cotton Creek Road.

Residents in the evacuation area will be allowed to return to their homes, but will be required to show identification to enter into the area.

Animals housed at the Mariposa County Animal Control Center can be retrieved between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 29. Please call 209-966-3615 for assistance.

Please drive with caution in the area as there continues to be heavy fire and sheriff traffic in and around the fire scene.

The fire is reportedly continuing to burn internally, but is not advancing on any fronts and some personnel are being released.
