According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, the hiker became unable to continue on her own, prompting a coordinated response from multiple local agencies. Volunteers and sworn personnel from Madera County Search and Rescue worked alongside U.S. Forest Service Fire and Law Enforcement units, as well as Sierra Ambulance, to reach the patient on the trail.

Crews stabilized the woman’s injury and safely carried her out to the trailhead before she was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Officials noted that the rescue went smoothly thanks to the rapid response and teamwork among the agencies.

With winter conditions setting in across the Sierra foothills and higher elevations, local authorities are reminding residents and visitors to stay prepared when heading outdoors. Proper footwear, essential supplies, and situational awareness can make all the difference on trails like Corlieu Falls, where terrain can become slippery and uneven.

Madera County Sheriff’s Office encourages hikers to review safety resources available on the Madera County Sheriff’s mobile app, which can be downloaded at MaderaSheriffApp.com. The app includes trail safety guidance, emergency preparedness tools, and local alerts under the county’s “Be Ready Madera!” initiative.

Search and Rescue leaders also extended appreciation to the Madera Sheriff’s Foundation for its ongoing support. SAR operations in Madera County rely on a combination of highly trained volunteers and sworn personnel who respond year-round to emergencies across the region’s rugged landscapes.

As always, officials urge outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the beauty of the Sierra responsibly and remain mindful of changing trail conditions.
