OAKHURST — Community members are invited to roll up their sleeves and take part in a large-scale clean-up effort at the Oakhurst Community Park. This volunteer-driven event will focus on removing downed tree debris and trash along the Fresno River and China Creek, helping to prepare the park for the upcoming summer season.
A Community-Owned Effort
Now that the Oakhurst Community Park nonprofit officially owns the park, residents are stepping up to preserve and maintain the park. Organizers explain that the team had scheduled fuel mitigation work earlier this year, but wildfire emergencies in Southern California pulled those resources away — leaving critical work unfinished.
Clean-Up Zones for All Ages

This event is designed to be inclusive and safe for all age groups. A detailed site map shows designated clean-up zones:
- Young Kids Zone: near the Fresno River and library entrance
- Older Kids & Adults Zones: along the parkway and closer to China Creek
- Adults Only Zone: in more rugged areas near the outer trail
Volunteers will check in near the library entrance.
What to Bring & Expect

Participants will receive gloves, water, snacks, shovels, and rakes, but extra supplies are always welcome. Organizers suggest bringing:
- Sunscreen
- Additional shoves, rakes, or weed whackers
- Friends and family members ready to help
