Golden Chain Theatre to Host Classic Car Show

OAKHURST — Join a community celebration tomorrow, Saturday, April 30, at the Oakhurst Community Park. The Center Stage Classic Car Show is back for the second year of high-octane fun times from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will enjoy music, great food, raffles, prizes, sweet rides, and dramatic programming from the Golden Chain Theatre’s Junior Players and the ENCORE! youth performers.

The raffle prizes boast over 40 items, including Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad tickets, boat rentals from Miller’s Landing and The Forks, overnight stays at the Holiday Inn, Fairfield Inn, and The Redwoods. Plus gifts and gift certificates from many businesses throughout the mountain area.

“Golden Chain Theatre chose to sponsor a car show because the classic car community is such a great bunch of people to work with,” explains Michael Van Buren, President of the Golden Chain Theatre. “Last year, we had over 50 cars at the event from all over the mountain area and Fresno and Clovis, and we raised thousands of dollars to support our community theatre. We look forward to this year’s event being bigger, better, and more successful than last year.”

Golden Chain Theatre relies on fundraising efforts such as the Center Stage Car Show, individual donations from patrons, and major sponsorships to fund operations, projects, and renovations at the historic theatre.

The Golden Chain Theatre has a list of major repairs needed to keep the aging facility operating and improve the guest experience. These include a new HVAC system to better cool and heat the auditorium and bathroom upgrades.

New in 2022, the Golden Chain Theatre proudly announced a Resiliency Sponsorship from Solar Negotiators. Solar Negotiators is a solar energy company based in Fresno, CA. As a Resiliency Sponsor of the theatre, Solar Negotiators has generously committed to helping fund roof repairs, installing a 12.5-kilowatt solar system, and providing a monthly sustaining financial contribution to the theatre. This donation and sponsorship will ensure the legacy of the historic building and carry the beloved community theatre into a bright future.

“We are so grateful for the strong support from our Resiliency Sponsor, Solar Negotiators. In addition to the generosity of Solar Negotiators, the Center Stage Car Show this weekend has incredible support from many more local businesses, including; Stars and Stripes Realty, Claiborne, Lavoie & Associates, Ditton Century 21 Realty, Sierra Telephone, Camarena Health, and the more than 50 other sponsors,” continues Van Buren. “The lineup of shows at Golden Chain Theatre in 2022 is superb. I know that I speak for the entire company when I say it’s a relief and a joy to all of us to be back inside the building after the closures of the past two years. The show must go on— and thanks to the support of this community, it truly will!”
