Fueled By Local Support – MY Club’s End Of Year Push

Mountain Youth Club

OAKHURST, CA – As the year draws to a close, My Club of Oakhurst is making a final push to secure community support for the youth and families it serves across the mountain area. The nonprofit, which provides after-school programs, mentoring, recreation, and family-focused events, reports that demand for safe, affordable youth programming continues to grow.

Each year, My Club serves more than 1,500 children throughout the mountain communities. Programs focus on creating stable, welcoming environments where young people can learn, build confidence, and develop life skills. For many families, the organization functions as more than a program provider. It often serves as a consistent and trusted second home.

“This is a place where kids feel safe and supported,” a My Club representative said in an interview. “Families rely on us not only for activities, but for mentorship and structure during critical after-school and summer hours.”

Milestones Fueled by Local Support

This year marked a major milestone with the opening of the long-anticipated Teen Center. The project was funded entirely through community-driven efforts, including OakChella Music Festival, the annual Haunted House, and the Christmas Tree Auction. Organizers emphasized that no outside institutional funding was used for the project.

“The Teen Center exists because the community stepped up,” a program coordinator explained. “Teens now have a dedicated space to connect, learn practical skills, and build positive relationships.”

In addition to the Teen Center, My Club expanded its calendar of family and youth events. Programs included the Sweetheart Dance, Santa’s Winter Wonderland Walkthrough, summer camps, sports camps, and the Youth Ambassador Dinner. During that dinner, local teens shared personal stories and leadership perspectives with community members.

“These events are not just entertainment,” another staff member noted. “They create shared experiences that strengthen families and give young people a sense of belonging.”

A Summer Resource the Community Depends On

During the summer months, My Club once again operated the swimming pool at Yosemite High School. The program provided free or low-cost access to safe recreation for hundreds of children and teens.

“Access to the pool is critical during the summer,” said a volunteer familiar with the program. “For many kids, it is the only structured and supervised activity available during those months.”

The pool operation, like many of the organization’s programs, relies heavily on donations and volunteer support. Leaders say the service fills a gap that would otherwise leave many families without affordable options.

Year-End Giving Urgency

As December 31 approaches, My Club leaders stress that financial support is urgently needed to sustain current programs and meet increasing demand. The organization remains committed to ensuring that no child is turned away due to financial hardship.

“A donation made now has immediate impact,” a My Club administrator said. “It helps keep doors open, staff trained, and programs accessible.”

Donations made before the end of the year may also be tax-deductible, providing an added incentive for supporters. According to the organization, every dollar raised stays local and directly supports youth services in the mountain communities.

Community members interested in supporting My Club of Oakhurst can donate online before December 31. Organizers say continued local investment will allow the organization to enter the new year prepared to serve children, teens, and families who depend on its programs.

As one staff member summarized, “When the community invests in its youth, the entire region benefits.”
