About the Oakhurst Branch Library

In 1911, after the state of California passed a law requiring counties to establish free libraries, a library branch was opened in what was then called Fresno Flats…which became “Oakhurst” in 1912.

A library card holder can check out a book at any one of these locations and return it to any other location within the SJVLS. A library patron can request books from other libraries within the system and it will be sent to the library of their choice.

Visit the site for upcoming events at our libraries or to request a book or other materials. You also can place a book on hold, and even extend your loan date.

The Oakhurst Library has a wide selection of reading materials, both fiction and non-fiction. It offers books, books on CD, music on CD, DVD’s, e-books, books on local and California history, magazines, and newspapers.

The library has Internet resources subscribed through the Madera County Library database, including chiltonlibrary.com, Auto Repair, 3M Cloud library, EBSCO Host, eResources, and your Community Resources Directory.
