Fresno State Ranks in Top 5 for Social Mobility

FRESNO STATE — Continuing to shine as on of the best universities in the country for helping students climb the “socioeconomic ladder”, is the one and only, Fresno StateThe Wall Street Journal published an article on September 5th, ranking Fresno State at No. 4 in the nation for social mobility.  Thus, marking a jump from its previous No. 6 position last year, highlighting the university’s growing impact.

To begin, beyond social mobility, Fresno State has secured other top rankings as well.  For example, it placed No. 15 for best student overall experience and No. 16 for best value.  Additionally, the university ranked No. 51 overall out of the 500 best universities in the U.S.  These accolades spotlight Fresno State’s commitment to providing students with a high-quality education while remaining affordable.

Moreover, Fresno State is one of four California State University campuses that landed in the top five for social mobility.  The university’s efforts help students from lower-income backgrounds rise through educational opportunities.  Notably, approximately 64% of Fresno State students are the first in their families to attend college.

Next, Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval credits the university’s approach to education for its success.

In addition, The Wall Street Journal rankings focus on factors like graduation rates and graduation salaries. This helps students and families pick schools that are most likely to support their success.  Consequently, Fresno State’s steady presence among the top universities for social mobility proves its impact on changing students’ lives for the better.

Recognized for Excellence

Finally, Fresno State’s achievements don’t stop with The Wall Street Journal rankings.  In August, it ranked in the top tier of the 2024 Economic Mobility Index by Third Way, a national think tank.  Furthermore, the university climbed to No. 22 on Washington Monthly‘s 2024 list of top universities. On top of that, it earned a 4.5-star rating from Money‘s 2024 Best Colleges ranking for affordability and quality.

Overall, Fresno State continues to be a leader in education, public service, and research, laying the foundations for student success on a national scale.
