MARIPOSA — John C. Fremont Healthcare District (see map below) announced at the June 29th John C. Fremont Healthcare District board meeting the election of Linda Pribyl, previous board secretary treasurer, as the new board chair replacing Candy O’Donel-Browne who is stepping down after six years as chair. O’Donel-Browne is taking over as the secretary treasurer of the board.
Pribyl is a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing and Master’s in Business Administration.
Her healthcare career spans over 40 years, providing a breadth of experience in patient care, clinical research, diabetes clinical specialization, case management, and hospital management ranging from unit manager to senior vice president. “I respect the trust placed in me as Board Chair and am committed to leading with transparency and integrity. I thank Candy for her leadership and as a mentor preparing me for this responsibility,” said Pribyl.
Her management responsibilities included hospital renovations, capital campaigns, start-up of Medicare-certified home health agency achieving the Joint Commission accreditation with commendation, and management of home health, hospice and private duty services.
She has served on a variety of boards, including Federal Credit Union, Arthritis Foundation, Hospice Hawaii, Hawaii Association for Home Care, and hospital Governing Board and the Mariposa County Commission on Aging.
“Linda has been on the board since 2014. She brings a tremendous wealth of experience as a seasoned board member. Candy having been on the board since 2003 brings with her knowledge of the hospital that is rare to replace,” said Matthew Matthiessen, CEO.
Mrs. O’Donel-Browne acquired a BA in Psychology from Fordham University. She owned KOA Yosemite/Mariposa Campground and RV Park in Midpines. After she sold it, she became the Executive Director of the Economic Development Corporation of Mariposa County. She is now retired.
She is involved with a number of other community boards and committees, including Yosemite Gateway Partners, Mountain Crisis Services, the Mariposa County Arts Council, the Economic Development Corporation, YARTS, and the Midpines Planning Advisory Committee.
“With Linda’s medical and business background, she will bring a great perspective to the board as our new chair. It was an honor to serve the Mariposa community as the board chair,” said O’Donel-Browne, former board chair.
