Focus On Vibrant Health – The State of Health Today
A Journey Through Today's Biggest Issues Begins

NORTH FORK, CA – A century ago, daily life looked very different. Most people moved more throughout the day, ate more wholesome foods, lived in environments where work, rest and community were more tightly intertwined. In small towns this lifestyle lasted longer, but today this rarely exists. Now we have more sedentary routines, highly processed diets, high levels of stress, and nearly constant digital stimulation.
Focus On Vibrant Health weekly articles began in September, 2025. We have learned many things about what makes us sick and what supports health. Health is our birthright, but comes with a responsibility to make good choices. Good health depends on the decisions we make regarding food, water, sunshine, time in nature, exercise, sleep, how we manage stress, our attitude, living with purpose, nurturing friends and family, and being truly present in more moments. All of these are ways we nourish our health. Not feeling well is an inevitable and natural result of not getting enough nourishment, from being poisoned, and when injuries occur. The previous 30 articles have covered these subjects, and form the essential basics for understanding and regaining health. I highly encourage you to review them, or go back and read any that you missed. You have the power to take responsibility for your health if you so choose, and the information to do it is right here for you.
The next series of articles will weave these basics with exploring health topics of interest and common health challenges of today. I want to emphasize that these are mostly issues of modern life choices and exposures, and were virtually unknown even 100 years ago. Issues such as obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, dementia, insomnia, anxiety and depression. Topics will also include vegetarianism, food affordability, preventative health, metabolic health, gut health and the microbiome, longevity and so-called “anti-aging”, musculoskeletal health (back pain, joint issues, posture), women’s and men’s health issues, digital addiction, weight loss drugs, air quality, problems specific to children and young people, and more.
