Fire Near Oakhurst Park Out On Arrival

OAKHURST – A fire that started behind the Oakhurst Community Park on Sunday, Sept. 29, may have put up a lot of smoke, but was quickly extinguished by those on the scene.

Around 8 p.m., a full wildland fire dispatch was called up when reports came in of a fire burning near the river in Oakhurst. Those first on the scene reported that the 1/8 acre fire was out upon their arrival, and all additional resources returned to quarters.

Madera County Engine 12 and Cal Fire Engine 4285 remained at scene for about 30 minutes to monitor the situation, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Karen Guillemin.
