Fire Near Coulterville Now Over 100 Acres

MARIPOSA COUNTY – A fire burning near Coulterville off Highway 49 at Haigh Road has now grown to 111 acres, and is causing smoky conditions in Eastern Mariposa and Madera Counties.

The Haigh Fire, which was reported at 3:11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, is 20% contained, and is burning in heavy brush.

Cal Fire is reporting that extreme temperatures and dry conditions have allowed the fire to burn very actively.

There are currently 330 personnel assigned to the fire, with 32 engines, 12 crews, 7 dozers, 4 air tankers, 4 helicopters and 4 water tenders.

No structures have been damaged or destroyed at this time, and one minor injury has been reported.

The cause of the fires is under investigation.
