Fire Destroys Home On Highway 49 In Mariposa County

MARIPOSA – A Mariposa County resident is without a home after a fast-moving fire completely destroyed his house near the Mariposa Coffee Roasting Company last night.

Firefighters were called out just after 7:30 p.m. to reports of a structure fire in the 2900 block of Highway 49 South.

Within minutes, a Mariposa County Sheriff’s deputy arrived at scene and reported the older double-wide mobile home fully involved.

The single occupant was able to get out of the structure with no reported injuries and go next door to stay warm with the folks at the coffee company.

Temperatures were in the low 20s and snow and mud proved a bit challenging for engines on the downward-sloping driveway.

With the home already completely engulfed when firefighters arrived, it was a total loss. However crews were able to save four vehicles parked on the property.

Cal Fire, Mariposa County Fire and the Mariposa Sheriff’s Office responded. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
