Ferguson Fire Command Post Moves To Ahwahnee Hills Park

AHWAHNEE – The Incident Command Post for the Ferguson Fire in the process of being relocated from the Mariposa County Fairgrounds to Ahwahnee Hills Regional Park.

The park was used as the ICP for the Railroad Fire last year, and workers are already on the property making preparations for the move.

The public is being asked by park managers not to use the area, as heavy equipment and trucks delivering modular units will be moving in and out of the property throughout the day and into the night.

Those traveling through the Ahwahnee area should be cautious of large vehicles entering and exiting the park just north of the Wasuma School, and of fire engines, dozers and other fire vehicles traveling along Highway 49 between Ahwahnee and Mariposa, especially during shift changes around 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Tonight will be the last briefing in Mariposa, with operations fully underway in Ahwahnee by tomorrow, allowing the space needed for all the facilities necessary for a command post managing a fire of this size.
